I played it, tried it out for sometime, got irritated due to ads and left. I could've got the no-ads pack but I didn't- I don't think I can play it for long. But other might feel differnet.
My analysis:
Discovery: 'Dumb Ways To die/draw/more'... games seem to have a lot of variations. I think users get the recommendations in casual games. Players who have played other variations would play the new one that is 'Dumb ways to die'.
Attention/ Acquisition: I downloaded the game simply because the title and graphics were attractive! The clips in App Store are hilarious and show how different the game is.
Engagement: It really makes no sense! You have to complete simple tasks and save the gherkin (or whatever it is) from dying in a dumb way.
Pain point: You get only 3 lives. The game is super short, so it takes hardly 3 minutes to complete a few tasks and lose 3 lives, and get those annoying ADs. A new user would find it different from most games and would spread the word, but the ads make it tough to enjoy the game mostly as it is a very short game.
The quirkiness and simplicity of the game makes it interesting though, you can just pay and continue exploring, which might totally be worth.
I might go for Dumb Ways to Die 2, explore the Dumbville!
